Andrew Hornig Memorial Fund

Andrew "Andy" Hornig, Ph.D. loved the beauty of nature, both in studying it via the science of physics and experiencing it by being outdoors, running, hiking, snowboarding, and more.

He has left us but his family wishes to establish a fund to bring what Andrew loved to others. The Andrew Hornig Scholarship Fund will support physics graduate students at U.C. Berkeley, where he completed his dissertation and where his mother Susanna is also an alumna. The planned fund will be disbursed in honor of Andy's life in two ways. It will support students who may someday apply their physics skills to the solution of humanitarian and environmental issues, as Andrew did. It will also help students live fully during their studies by supporting their exploration of the outdoors, something Andrew took great joy in doing together with his wife Katie.

A life is an uncountable infinity, and we have been so lucky to have known and be touched by Andrew. Thank you for considering a contribution in memory of our dear Andrew/Andy.
