Antioch Training School

I graduated from Arizona State University this year in May with a degree in filmmaking practices. My whole life I have dreamt of being on stage at the Academy Awards with my favorite celebrities accepting an award that would forever immortalize my legacy. But I have learned a few things over the past four years of school that have changed the way I see that dream.

It is better to be remembered for the way you loved others than for the things you accomplished. The greatest impact we can have on the world around us is through our treatment of other people. If we love as Christ loved, unconditionally and unrelentingly, we will change the world in which we live. Our workplaces, our families, our communities, anywhere we go, we will leave a trail of change because people will feel loved and appreciated and it will change their hearts forever.
All this being said, I still love film. I still want to make movies, take pictures, and maybe be a part of the Hollywood industry someday should my path take me there. But first I am going to see the world for myself.
It is hard to love the world if you don’t walk outside. Jesus spent his time with the brokenhearted: the prostitutes, the lepers, the tax collectors. He didn’t hide away in temples with the “religious” members of society. Instead, he loved the world; those furthest from God who needed His love the most. That is where I am going.

I had the opportunity in March of this year to go to Tijuana, Mexico with Antioch to help plant a church and reach the local community. It was my first missions trip and certainly won’t be my last.

I started attending Antioch Community Church in Tempe a little over a year ago and I fell in love with the presence of God that hangs over our family. Every church service, small group, and outreach event is marked by God’s presence and it seems that everywhere we go, people are touched by the words God gives them. I’ve never seen Him move so clearly in a body of Christ followers in my life. So naturally, when I heard there was an opportunity to devote nine months after graduation to a program that allows me to spend four afternoons a week with these people and equips me to bring transformation to the nations, I was intrigued.
Training School is dedicated to teaching biblical knowledge, combined with ministry and leadership development, outreach opportunities, and ultimately, character transformation. Through this program, I will be given almost a year to hone in on what God wants to do in my life and how He wants to use me to change the world around me.
But the best part is the fact that the program ends with a one-month trip overseas! In 2014, the class went to Indonesia, this year to Mongolia, and 2016 is yet to be determined. But wherever we go, we will be bringing God’s love and transformation with us. This program is an opportunity for me to learn more about myself, and to see the world like never before. But I cannot do it without your help. The class is $1800 and the missions trip is $3000. As a starving artist, those numbers are too great for my barista-income budget. If you would like to help me experience the adventures God has waiting for me, please donate!
Anything you can contribute to my costs for this trip will be more than appreciated. By partnering with me, you are also partnering with God and His plans for my life. I long to lay my life down for others and to see people’s lives changed for the better. I also love to travel so the missions trip is just the icing on the cake. If you can give, please do. If not, please keep me in your prayers. If you are receiving this letter, it is because you have impacted my life in one way or another and I have seen God move through you first-hand. Be encouraged by that. I look forward to keeping you informed about my future endeavors. Thank you for your consideration.

Warm Regards,
