Our father, husband, & friend; Scott
To Scott Amos Andrews, every day was an adventure, and his greatest joy in life was to invite you into it and guide you along the way. He approached every day as if it was the next great story to tell and had an unquenchable optimism that called out the very best in those around him.
He loved to explore- whether by jeeping through the wilderness, finding obscure corners of worlds in online games, or by searching out the best local Cuban sandwich- Scott was always on a quest for new stories. He was, at his core, a master storyteller who brought you along with him for each new adventure. He had a conspiratorial laugh that was infectious and a way about him that made even the most mundane card game sound like it was the most….exciting...game...ever.
Scott found joy in simple pleasures. A good cigar by the pool on a warm day throwing the ball to his faithful pup, Zelda ranked among his favorite moments. Sharing stories of other worlds and Dungeons & Dragons campaigns made his eyes twinkle and his face light up.Sporting ogre teeth at costume parties and building bigger and bigger sets for theater productions were just part of Scott’s never-ending zest for life and enjoyment of the...ahem...little things.
Scott Andrews was the quintessential family man. He poured his heart and soul into his children (and any stray he adopted along the way). He led his family with a heart of gold and a firm belief that if you gave your loved ones a place to be themselves that they would discover the best version of that person and live up to that. He loved deeply, protected fiercely, and was always a soft place to land no matter what the situation.
As a friend, Scott was a still lake to rest by. He always had a listening ear to lend and a steady heart that gave sound advice and counsel. He was one of the wisest men this world has ever known and never failed to close a conversation by reminding you of your value in the world and in God’s eyes. His faith made him a lighthouse to those wandering in the dark and a safe place to land for weary travelers.
“Our feet are the same” (Auf Wiedersehen), Scott, until we meet again. Go learn all the best paths through your new world, we’ll be expecting a tour when we get there.
