Andy Andrist’s Cancer Treatment

My name is Delaney Andrist and I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my dad Andy Andrist. He was recently diagnosed with Bile Duct Cancer which is a rare cancer that will require an aggressive treatment. He is scheduled for a Whipple procedure on January 20th that will remove part of his pancreas, his gallbladder, part of the small intestine, and his bile duct, possibly followed by chemotherapy.

My dad is a stand up comedian for a living whose work was already heavily impacted by the pandemic these past two years. My mom has an even rarer brain disease that has left her on disability, legally blind, and unable to drive or work for several years. To help ends meet they had opened an Airbnb in their master bedroom, but my dad will need that room to comfortably recover at home. His recovery from surgery will eliminate that income for the next several months.

Even with health insurance, the out of pocket costs are already several thousand dollars. The costs will continue to rise in January after his surgery. I am hoping that this can ease the financial burden for my parents so he can focus on making a full recovery. My dad has a huge heart and this diagnosis has been devastating.
