We are the children of Andy Cummings
Andy has struggled with heart problems for the last 20 years. In September of 2019 he had an Lvad placed in his heart to help his heart work. Andy was placed on the heart transplant list and in October of 2020 we got the call for a new heart. The heart transplant was a success however he got several infections and was back and forth in the hospital. The week of Thanksgiving he contracted covid-19 and began fighting for his life. He was placed on a ventilator and then on ECMO an artificial lung. Dad fought and fought however the virus was just to much for his weakened immune system to fight off. Dad passed away the day after his birthday and the day before his wife of 39 years birthday.
Dad was an amazing man who fought so hard. He was a Marine and embodied everything it meant to be one. He loved his family and his friends. He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. Everyone who met him adored him because he was a genuine, real, caring, and loving man. He valued his time with his family and loved traveling with his wife. He raised 4 children and took on a 5th as a teenager. He was a dad to so many as he just loved people. He loved his 13 grandchildren and his one great grandchild.
With all the time he was in the hospital his medical expenses became astronomical. We are doing this fundraiser to help mom with those bills and the expense incurred to lay him to rest. Anything will help as mom goes through this process of honoring her dear husband. We thank all of those who have donated to past medical fundraisers. We thank all whom have reached out with positive thoughts and prayers over the last month as he fought for his life.
