Andy needs some wheels

My name is Andrew McLean and I am living with a very aggressive form of Multiple Sclerosis.  My request is for assistance to buy a modified vehicle to enable me to travel in my wheelchair.  I would like to be able to get to Whyalla and to Adelaide to spend time with my first grand daughter and attend medical appointments at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.  Living regionally means that a trip into Whyalla by an accessible taxi cab would cost $200 return, which I can't afford. 

In 2018, I built my dream home in Point Lowly with the intention of having  a sea change, and working locally to be close to my Mum and family.  I thought I had the world at my feet until I started feeling weird and pretty quickly got diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.  In this time, everything has changed for me. My relationship broke down, I lost my licence and ability to work and am now in a wheelchair, requiring  24 hour care for all my personal care, cooking, shopping and transport needs.  

I worked hard for all that I achieved, as a crane driver all over Australia.  I and my business partner ran a successful business,  Astral Cranes until I chose to move to the country and sold my share of the business. I put all my money into my home and now can't think of ever leaving this special place as the view from my deck is spectacular and I get to watch the dolphins and seals who come to visit on occasion.  I love to have a barbeque on the deck with my family, neighbours and friends and enjoy a drop of Jonny Walker on occasion.

Having the car would mean having the freedom to go and catch up with my family and friends when I want and travel to Adelaide to see my two children and beautiful granddaughter, attend the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment and catch up with my former work buddies and mates.
