Dear Friends, Family and Otherwise Interested Parties:

I don't do this. I find it embarrassing, off-putting and frightening that I feel compelled to do this, but my literal survival here in California is at risk. It also feels like cheating, but I can't complain about that.

For the record, Beth and I moved here to be able to see her family (mostly her son and granddaughters) more easily. I was never "sold" 100% on the idea, but it's what Beth wanted, so... If we spent 24 hours total with her "family" out here, it was a lot.

Much of the non-visiting was due to Beth's various illnesses, to which she finally succumbed (after being in an unremitting coma for four months. She passed away, if you need it spelled out. That's when I found out that the people out here are NOT my family, but a bunch of strangers I happened to meet because of Beth, but I couldn't expect any support from a bunch of strangers.

So, I've been living on my own, basically, since October of last year, and gradually getting more depressed and at a loss due to my own health concerns, and the fact that Beth's passing left me in a financial bind. I have handled the following situations that have only occurred:

I have to visit five-plus different specialists for my health care. The most significant of which are my cardiologist, and I'm going to have to start seeing a vascular surgeon soon.
I left the apartment less than two weeks ago, to find my car had been towed, and I owed $1620 to retrieve it from the towers and due to storage charges while they had it. I managed to scrounge up what I needed to retrieve the car, but I was given a limited amount of time to get the registration fixed for California. That cost me another $1200 and I have until the end of September to get a duplicate title from NY so I can register it here.

As of last count I have three open sores on my shins: two on the right and one on the left. These were caused by neuropathy and the tissue-paper-thin skin on my legs below the knee. These lesions start as a "bubble" because I bumped into something or dropped my phone on the area. Very easy for me to cause these things! I went to a local(hah!) ER and they wanted to admit me last night, but I made them release me AMA (Against Medical Advice) because there are a few ends I need to tie up first, including packing to be admitted to the hospital.

Frankly, I am scared to death to get admitted to an ER out here. I'm afraid I may just disappear.

And... I have to pay rent, utilities, insurance, groceries, etc., etc.

I could add pages of things to this "plea", but if you gathered my meaning, I need a financial bailout in a hurry.

Well, enough for now.

Anything you can do to help would be totally amazing, and since I am in such a vulnerable state, totally welcome.

Thanks for reading this through, and in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or would take exception to anything. I'll probably be in the hospital by the end of the weekend.

I'm in the phone book.
