Andy's Hometowne fight

On August 1, 2022 Andy Thompson, the owner and operator of Albertville Andy's Hometowne Pizza, was diagnosed with Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) with Acute Tubular Necrosis (ATN).

After spending 10 very tough days in the St. Cloud Hospital, he is now undergoing 3 1/2 hours of outpatient dialysis every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. These dialysis treatments cost approximately $7,000 each time. It is the hope of his Care Team that dialysis will give his kidneys time to heal and repair themselves, however, if they do not rebound on their own, further medical intervention will be necessary which includes a transplant plan.

As a small business owner, obtaining medical insurance that provides adequate coverage with a reasonable monthly premium is extremely hard to find and even harder to maintain. Without active health insurance, Andy's medical costs are rising at a rate that is impossible for him to keep up with.

Andy has loved living in the St. Michael-Albertville area his entire life. He has a large extended family who all live here, he has many friends here, he chose to raise his two children here and he realized his dream of owning his own pizza shop here.

Andy is beyond proud of this community and takes great pride and honor in giving back to his Hometowne. We could list all of the philanthropic activities Andy has participated in in the past 16 years but there are just too many to name and quite honestly Andy wouldn't want us to because that's not why he does what he does for others.

In an effort to take some stress and financial pressure off of Andy and give back to a man, and a business, who has given so much to so many, we have chosen to start a GoFundMe to help him with as much of his medical expenses as we can.

Andy wants to assure all of you that even while he is navigating this difficult time it will remain “business as usual” as he, and his remarkable staff, continue to smoothly run his pizza shop with uninterrupted services.
