For Love of Water: Support Mylene's Trial
Donation protected
In August of 2021, Mylene Vialard was one of a group of water protectors to put their bodies on the line in the indigenous-led resistance movement to stop Line 3. She received an escalated (felony) charge and instead of taking a plea deal, she has decided to continue this fight in the courts by going to trial. On August 28th, 2023 Mylene will face a jury trial in Aitkin County and is asking for folks to join her in-person, on zoom, and also to take one act of courage in solidarity with frontline defenders.
Mylene says, “In the face of the climate crisis, I went up to Line 3 inspired by my 20 year old daughter, who went before I did and put her body on the line. I’m fighting for her future and for the future of all our children. As a settler in the US, I’m also fighting for our systems to honor Indigenous treaty rights. The Line 3 fight isn’t over, I’m standing in solidarity with all these frontline resistance efforts by continuing this Line 3 action in court.”
This fundraiser is to support a social media subscription for a Linktree website, the goal of which is to raise awareness of Mylene’s trial, as well as to support several close supporters/family members who would like to attend the trial in support of Mylene and need financial support to do so. Any funds raised in excess will be given to Indigenous-led environmental defense-based groups.
Detailed information about how the fundraiser will be used and policies for allowable expenses are available upon request to phone number (5 one three)- 4 seven seven - 1 three one five.
