Help Angela with her DBS Medical Bills

Hi Everyone,

I was raising funds for my wife, Angela Wensley, to have Deep Brain Stimulation surgery to combat Parkinson's Disease at the U Miami Health Complex.

On April 4th the first surgery was done to implant 2 leads into the subthalamic nucleus (STN) of the brain. One lead into the left hemisphere STN and the second lead into the right hemisphere STN.

Then on April 11th a second surgery was done to implant the stimulator device into the right chest cavity below the collarbone and insert the connection wires up the right side of the neck to connect the stimulator device to the brain leads that had been implanted the previous week.

On April 22nd the device was programmed and turned on.  The picture shows Angela and Dr. Luca as the device was turned on. Her results with this newest state-of-the-art equipment were amazing, and this has given Angela a new lease on life where most of the Parkinson symptoms are now being controlled.

This amazing surgery so far has cost us a bit over $114,000.00. Angela being a Canadian, does not have any US medical insurance. In order to have the procedure done at the U Miami Health Complex we had to guarantee that the bills would be paid. This procedure is available in Canada but with older equipment and the wait time is 3 to 5 years.
