Angie Lanham Martin

My name is Ashley Welsh, and I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend, Angie Lanham Martin, who has been diagnosed with endometrial and cervical cancer.

I met Angie the first day a freshman year of college, a time when I was scared, nervous, yet excited, and hundreds of miles from home. But it soon became clear that when around her, anywhere could feel like home. I knew we would be friends for life. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding, I was a bridesmaid in hers, and even though we rarely get to see each other, we always keep in touch. She has such a warm and welcoming personality and is always up for a good laugh, even when facing an uncertain future.

She has always been there for me and I am so lucky to have her. If you have the pleasure of knowing her, you'll know she is one of the most kind and loyal people you will ever meet, who is always willing to help those of us who've needed her most. I only hope to return the favor.

A year away from graduating nursing school, Angie has focused on building a future she can bring children into. Unfortunately, cancer has robbed her of that dream.

But as of now, they don't know if her cancer has spread.

Angie has worked a wide variety of positions in the medical field and while I'm sure the reversal of roles is odd, she also has a deeper understanding of what this type of diagnosis means for a young woman.

Angie needs support. And for someone who has always been there for everyone else, she needs someone to be there for her. She's missed work because of nursing school, and now can't return to work because of health concerns. But between school, bills, copays, and now cancer treatments, it's easy to get overwhelmed when all she should focus on is getting better.

I'm not asking for much, just enough to keep some weight off her shoulders.
