Angela's First Classroom!
Donation protected
Hi everyone! As you know, I've recently graduated and will be a first year teacher this Fall! I will be teaching at Roosevelt Elementary in Redwood City. Not all schools are provided with funding from the government and many teachers are left to pay out of pocket to be able to support their own classrooms. As a first year teacher, I am hoping to provide my students with a positive and amazing learning environment in August!
But I can't do this on my own, it takes a village! I am asking my friends and family to consider either donating physical school items (books, pencils, etc.) or making a monetary donation. All donations will be funding my classroom for the school year. I want to make sure that all of my students, regardless of socioeconomic background, are able to have equal access to school materials. You will be helping a classroom of 30 students, many of whom are English Learners coming from diverse backgrounds!
Your funding goes towards:
Books - Reading is VERY important for my students. For them to be successful in school, my students need access to a variety of books that are accessible to them and their individual reading levels. As they grow in reading, they become more confident in learning across all subjects in school. Your donations will help create a library full of fiction and non-fiction books, books on people of color, and books from reading levels A-Z. Scholastic provides teachers with a section of $1 books. I am hoping to gift each and every one of my students each month with a new book to keep, so a monetary donation of $9 will help fund a school year's worth of books for 1 student!
Flexible Seating - Just like how many workplaces allow for employees to choose where they would like to work (on a couch, at their desk, etc.) My students will enjoy taking initiative in finding a spot in the classroom that works best for them. Your donations will help fund seating like wobble stools, yoga balls, lap desks, and seat cushions. Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength!
School Supplies - Not all students have the ability to purchase their own school supplies. Your donations will help me make sure that my students all have access to the materials they need to engage in their activities throughout the day at school.
Curriculum - There are a variety of paid resources that I can use to supplement my teaching at school. Your donations will go towards purchasing electronic resources (for reading, writing, math, science, etc.) that I can use for years to come!
The flexible seating I am hoping to purchase is on my Amazon Wishlist, books will be purchased from Scholastic and various thrift stores, school supplies will be purchased from where I find the best prices (Amazon, Office Depot, etc.), and curriculum supplements will be purchased from TPT (Teachers Pay Teachers).
