Hi, my name is Lorraine Nebe Hutchinson, and I’d like to tell you about my younger sister Teresa Nebe Ellis who lives in Mountain Home Arkansas. In March 2013 Teresa started a journey like non-other & I hope none of you ever experience.  While traveling home from a visit with family, she suffered a heart attack & needed triple bypass surgery.  Her recovery came slow.  She never did get that “you’re going to feel great” feeling everyone said she would get after the surgery.  Instead, she felt bloated & kept gaining weight.  Her doctor didn’t listen when she said that something wasn’t right.  By May 2014, Teresa demanded they run some tests.  Sure enough something was wrong.  Stage 3C Ovarian Cancer.  Our family got together on a conference call for support & to help her devise a plan.  Either Chicago or Dallas so she could stay with family.  Our nieces researched area doctors in both cities & the decision was made to have the surgery here in Dallas.  The surgeon did a total abdominal hysterectomy & removed every bit of Cancer he could see.

On to recovery… 1st round of chemotherapy started in June 2014.  In July of that year, she had a Gallbladder attack & had to have Gallbladder surgery.  She then ended her 1st round of Chemotherapy in January 2015.  And thank the lord; she was in remission for a year.  What a wonderful year that was too.  From there things spiraled out of control.   Below is a timeline of her chain of events, but this doesn’t include the countless hospital visits for transfusions, infections & contracted illnesses or her weekly 2-½ hour drive to Fayetteville for Chemotherapy.

Feb 2016 - started  2nd round of chemotherapy
Aug 2016 - completed 2nd round of chemotherapy
Oct 2016 - exhausted all benefits & was released from her job.
Oct 2016 - having serious digestive problems, a tumor was found on her small bowel.  Unable to remove the tumor, surgery was preformed to bypass tumor.
Oct 2016 - Surgical wound became infected.   The wound was opened , cleaned, then packed daily.
Nov 2016 - Surgical wound got septic.  They did surgery again to remove infection.  Surgical team did wound vac so the "tennis ball" sized wound could heal from the inside out.
Dec 2016 - Teresa was told she needed to start Chemotherapy again
Dec 2016 - Her husbands 2nd employer relocated to another city & lost this 2nd income.
Jan 2017 - Traveled to Chicago for a second opinion.  They found the Cancer had spread to both lungs & found fluid in the left lung.
Jan 2017 - Lung drained 3 separate times that month.
Feb 2017 - Started 3rd round of Chemotherapy to reduce tumor & malignant fluid.

Many of you reading this may know Teresa.  Her parents owned El Sombrero restaurant where she worked for years.  After that, she became a medical coder for Dr. Russell Webb, Dr. Linda Teal  & Baxter Regional Hospital.

For those of you who don’t know Teresa, she is such a giving person.  Her & her husband are always helping others.  She has such compassion for helping people.    I’ve seen Teresa give when she has nothing to give.  She has been a member of the Fraternal order of Eagles since 2006.  She has been involved in several local charitable fund raising events including the National Guard family readiness group 224th, Co-chairman of the hog roast for kindness Inc., Hospice House of the Ozarks, and many other local & national charities.  Now I would like to help her.

This is really hard to ask for help.  We come from a very strong & independent family.  I’ve learned though that if you need help, it’s ok to ask. The help she has received so far from her immediate family & friends has really helped & has given her comfort.  Because she is unable to work, I am reaching out to our extended family, friends & our communities in hopes that together we can give her some financial relief.  Helping her financially will help relieve just one of her many stress factors & this is one way you can help.

Thank you so much for listening.  I hope you can find it in your heart to help Teresa.  Anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.

Please help spread the word.
