Ángel's Gender Affirming Care Fund

Hi, I'm starting this fund on trans visibility day. we're in the midst of multiple attacks on the health and well-being of transgender folk and the crashing of an outdated and greedy healthcare system in the United States.

A lot of you are familiar with the hellscape that health insurance is. In New York City, many freelancers must decide between paying taxes and purchasing quality health insurance. The moment you make enough cash to not stress over basic needs, you're asked to start paying for plans that cover very little, and your healthcare expenses go up. It's straight-up predatory.

This fund I am hoping you can contribute to is to help me pay for out-of-pocket gender-affirming expenses I will incur once PHE expires and Medicaid drops me. I will be required to purchase a private plan and start covering co-pays on the multiple medications and doctor visits I need. Because it's hard to save when you're drowning in debt, especially when you're chronically ill, I'm asking my community to help.

This year I will be finally able to access a hysterectomy that will free me from the intense pain I've suffered from for over 2 decades, and that take so much time, energy, hope, and opportunities from me. This freedom comes with a bill, though. There will be 2 or 3 more gender-affirming procedures down the road, so I'm hoping to slowly but steadily raise enough cash to get me through the financial ups and downs that come with these experiences.

I will also be selling artwork and services to keep this fund growing, so expect more information soon.
