Hi Everyone

Some of you may know that we have recently had to say goodbye to our little dog Angel. She gave us nearly 16 years of happiness and fun and she was very much loved and a big part of our family. I named her Angel as I got her as a puppy the same year that my mum died - so she was my little "Guardian Angel".

This year was my 60th birthday and we visited Sal one of the islands of Cape Verde. Whilst there Rob my husband had suggested we take a 20kg charity suitcase free via TUI our travel company

and visit and help out at OSPA (Organisation of Sal Protection of Animals) the amazing (but small) charity for dogs in need. The shelter's aim is to to find forever homes for the dogs, although sadly some have been there for years as rehoming the older dogs can prove more difficult. As anyone who has lost a well loved pet will understand, I would like to honour the memory of Angel by helping this wonderful charity. The money raised would go towards helping improving the shelter and give the dogs better kennels to live in, along with general care of the dogs.

Given the significance of this being my 60th year, I would like to raise £600 for the shelter through a couple of personal challenges: Firstly, I’m going to go sugar free starting Thursday 12th October 2023 for 60 days and secondly, walk at least 6,000 steps for each of those 60 days.

I shall be donating to my target for each week that I successfully complete and would be incredibly grateful if you would like to donate anything, as large or small as you like, to this lovely charity as well. (You can also join me in my 60 day challenges if you would like to offer moral support too!)

Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me and my family. Whatever total I reach will be a fitting gift from Angel to other dogs less fortunate than she was during her long and happy life with us.

September 2023, me with two of the 68 dogs Rosy and Otio currently in the shelter, I was able to take some of them out for a walk on the land around the shelter. They were so happy to get our and stretch their legs. Your donation would go towards helping to upgrade the shelter and enhancing the living conditions of the dogs that have been there several years.

If you are planning to visit Sal or any of the Cape Verde Islands did you know if travelling with TUI they allow a complementary 20kg charity suitcase with donations either packed by yourself or from the UK charity base who send direct your home that you can then deliver straight to the centre which is not far from most of the hotels on the island.
