Angels of Hope in San Antonio Sodzil 2022

As the Christmas season nears again, we are once again thinking about how we can bless the children in our beloved community. Every Christmas, our team and so many of you - as angels of hope - have partnered to make the Christmas dream of every child in San Antonio Sodzil come true on Christmas day - picking out toys, clothes, and other items that the children personally asked for. As so many of these children come from circumstances that don't allow them to freely ask and receive, we hope that through this promise that is made and kept every year, the children will know that they are beloved by God and that their dreams are valued.

Angels of Hope began twelve years ago, when Pastor Kyle Wilson decided that he wanted to share the love of Christ to the children at San Antonio Sodzil's feeding center (albergue), who came from situations of broken families and poverty. Every year, our team committed to sharing a gift that lets each child know that they are loved and valued. As our relationship with the community of San Antonio Sodzil deepened over the years, we kept this promise every year.

As we have committed to walking with every child as they grow, their needs also advance as more and more children are committing to continuing their educational and professional development (as of this year, 10 students from San Antonio Sodzil are pursuing their college degrees living in our Merida dormitory! Previously, it was common for students to not finish their middle or high school degrees). This year, in addition to toy gifts for the younger children, we have committed to purchasing key tools such as laptops and bicycles for transportation for middle and high school students who are fighting to continue their education.

Our hope is not to be a grand-scale operation; rather, our simple promise years ago was to walk with every child and support them with whatever is necessary to reach their goals and break generational poverty. Our promise was not to change the world, but to do everything we can to change the lives of these children and care for them with our best effort, as we do with our own children.
