Angels with Alex

Donation protected
Dear prayer warriors,
We need to come together and pray for answers and complete healing for sweet Alex. Alexandria “Alex” is a 5th grade student, and daughter Andy and Terri Sandoval of Rockdale. In early November 2020 Alex was diagnosed with encephalitis(inflammation of the brain). In November they tried placing a catheter in her neck for plasma exchange. The doctors still believed it was autoimmune encephalitis and that is the direction of treatment they took. After several hearing tests even at her brain stem her ears can hear, but the inflammation was causing processing issues.

As of January, Alex’s symptoms have gotten much worse. Her labs and images were center of discussion for a conference of neuro, oncology & neuro-immunology.

From Terri-
I need everybody to please help me bring this girl back to health. PRAY!!! Alex is fighting hard against something that the doctors CAN'T find. Some of you amazing people have reached out and put us in contact with new doctors & specialists. You have made sure I know we aren't in this alone. I personally feel strong enough to carry any burden put on me....with the exception of watching my child slip away from me. I smile at her all day every day, I tell her I'm proud of her, that everything will be ok and how much I love her.

Jan 13th-
They have been back at Dell Children’s Hospital for a week. They are looking into getting transferred to Texas Children’s hospital in Houston for more help and answers. They still believe it is encephalitis, but not sure if its autoimmune or not. Nothing is leaving a trail for doctors to follow. Her brain swelling hasn't reduced at all and symptoms have only gotten worse. Alex is unable to walk unassisted and struggling daily. They still have 1-2 weeks in Austin. If they transfer to Houston it will likely be more with a new team of fresh doctors to re-evaluate her health.

From Terri- Through this Alexandria has managed to make friends and smooze the amazing crew at Dell childrens cafeteria. They brought her a cup FULL of raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries, a cupful of her favorite pickles, special nachos and the chefs own pumpkin cheesecake. Even sick she is trying to be the favorite. She is so loving, caring, smart and has the best attitude . She has tried hard to keep up with her schoolwork, and even said it makes her feel normal. Love this girl and these people here at Dell.

As we all know travel, meals, medical supplies, and hospital bills are not inexpensive. Please help this family by donating any amount, no matter how small.
As childhood friend, classmate of 97’, Sunday school peer, and forever friend of Andy & Terri, I ask of you to pray for Alex and her family. They are so dearly and amazed by your outpouring of love and prayers!!

“Dear God, I pray for Alex as she deals with this inconclusive illness. I know You are the Master Healer and that you also provide times that are symptom free for this dear little one. Please comfort and protect this dear child during this hard time. Help them to know that they can come to you for the peace and health that only you can provide. Please be with the doctors as they continually study to find medicines and treatments that will comfort those that suffer from chronic illnesses. I leave this in Your precious hands oh God my Father. Amen”
