UPDATE 11/7/2023:
Things have gone downhill and haven't had a positive outcome. It has been a long road and things have not gone the direction they were hoping . There has been daily hospital visits from Sheridan, Bozeman, Missoula, Kalispell trying to address the injuries from the accident. As well as weekly visits for physical therapy and speech therapy. Since the last update there has been multiple ER visits, with staff infection in her leg which left holes in her leg where the skin split. She's had surgeries on her arms to add bars and screws for several weeks- and then had to go back in to remove one of the bars. She doesn't have much control over her arms/hands and has to relearn the simple things in life like eating and coloring inside the lines. Her vision is messed up and is now facing surgery due to an injury to her eye from her accident causing her vision to be stacked. She has to have major dental work done due to the impact breaking her teeth from when she was ejected and landed face down in the dirt. She has to have full time care and cannot be left alone for any length of time. She has a brain injury that has also caused major concerns and she's left to pick up the pieces. She has the mentality of a child for the most part and has no control over how her body is taking all these injuries. My brother has to care for her 24/7 and take her to and from appointments as well as be there to care for her throughout the day. He has MS which limits his ability to function but is simply doing the best he can. Coming up on the Holidays- doesn't make this process any easier. They have been denied any assistance to help them through they are both physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted with no end in sight. I am reposting this fundraiser in hopes to raise some more donations that will be used specifically for travel and medical expenses in relation to Angels medical appointments, treatments and surgeries. The go fund me is active- and there is also an account set up at the Opportunity Bank for ongoing medical expenses. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi- this fundraiser is on behalf of Angel Smith who is my brothers wife was in a horrible accident yesterday 7/15/23 - What started as a normal Saturday turned into pure chaos when she rolled her jeep around 3:30pm after she hit a pole over corrected which led her to veer off the opposite side of the road. The second the tires left pavement her jeep went airborne and began to roll multiple times down the embankment hitting a tree, and taking out a fence before landing on its side 150ft from the road. She was ejected and landed about 20ft from the jeep. She had two dogs with her that miraculously survived and ran off from being so scared. My brother had the truck and camper driving in front of her- once he got a ways in front and didnt' see her - he proceeded to turn around and go back only to see a large police presence and the firetrucks. He then saw what was left of the jeep laying on its side at the bottom of the embankment. He was told he wasnt allowed down there to her and was never even told if she was alive or even breathing so was in a state of shock not knowing what to expect. She was lifeflighted. She has 2 broken wrists, 6 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, fluid build up around her lungs, concussion, substantial memory loss ( she doesn't remember she has kids) and as of this mornings, CT scan found that she has a brain bleed. She has been moved into ICU. They are determining if she needs to be lifeflighted to another hospital. The jeep is totaled - they have no medical insurance and not a whole lot of auto insurance. She was scheduled to start a new job next week and now that is off the table. They have no income at this time, and after returning back to the hospital this afternoon his truck lost all his rear end fluid and created a major mechanical problem. After the jeep being totaled that is there only vehicle and now is stranded at the hospital . They are extremely down on their luck and could use a hand up to get them through this difficult time. She has a long long road in front of her for recovery. Any donations will be used for medical expenses, bills and expenses endured for travel to get back on her feet. Thank You !!
UPDATE: I apologize it has been a minute since this was last updated. It has been an overwhelming chaotic month. They have expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation for all your donations. Angel was in the ICU and hospital for 14 days before she was dismissed due to lack of insurance and they were in a hurry to get her out despite her still struggling. She had a massive brain bleed which has lead to a multitude of different health issues. Her broken wrists were operated on and had two full casts. One cast has been removed and switched to a splint the other cast remains while it heals. She is heading towards another operation on her wrists. It has been a rough road over the past three weeks- and the struggles continue daily. Her broken ribs have limited movement and is in constant pain and created pressure on her lungs which affects her breathing. She struggles with the brain injury on a daily basis it has affected her mental state and her memory. She struggles with having to relearn certain tasks and needs help with a lot of the tasks we all take for granted. She has to go to therapy multiple times a week and has to be driven to and from medical appointments 73 miles away and three hours away for another which with the rising cost of fuel has becoming yet another challenge. The medical bills are piling up on a daily basis. The head trauma has caused a lot of cognitive issues which affects her ability to understand and comprehend the accident and the frustrations of her injuries. Sometimes it comes out in the form as a mentality of a child in which she has no control of understanding or communicating effectively. On 8/10/23 She was rushed to the ER with major chills and wasn't able to communicate where her pain was- she has multiple large deep " holes" wounds that have pus on the back side of one leg that is swollen and full of red streaks going up the leg creating an uncontrolable amount of pain . She was told they are "sores from the compression socks"which doesnt make logical sense- but the wounds have expanded running up and down the calf of her leg and created a major infection spreading rapidly through her body. Cultures have been taken in fear that its MRSA or Staff Infection. Currently waiting the results on that. Each day you do not know if its going to be one step forward or two steps back. She will be out of work for the unforseeable future and my brother has been taking care of her non stop as she cannot be left unattended. They have zero income, no medical insurance and since they were in between homes they have no place to be for her to continue to heal. Any and all donations will be used for the soul purpose of medical expenses and travel expenses to get her the medical attention she needs. Thank you for reading!
