In Memory of Angie Donohue Woon

My name is Melanie and I am coordinating fundraising for my best friend’s husband, Roger, and her 15 year old daughter, Sarena. I know they would never ask for help but I know this would help them start their journey together.

Angie, Sarena’s mom, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) in March. Despite numerous rounds of chemo, radiation, and a stem cell transplant from her son, Trefton, on November 9th she was told the leukemia had returned and it was terminal. A very short 18 days later, Angie gained her wings.

Angie always said the most important thing, her favourite thing, is motherhood. She was heartbroken that she was not going to be able to see this through. Her husband, Roger, will be taking on parenting her 15 year old daughter in addition to his 9 year old daughter.

This year, Roger has been supporting Angie throughout her illness and as he and Sarena continue to live, the reality is their finances will be impacted.

Sarena is an intelligent young lady who aspires to be a dermatologist and plays competitive rugby.

Everyone continues to ask “what do you need?”. So…this may help!

I am looking to raise $30,000 on their behalf to cover costs for the following:

-Sarena’s sports activities

-Sarena’s education

-Counselling

-Day to day costs of raising a teenager and the loss of a second income
