Angie's Battle with Cancer

Hi, my name is Andrea, and I am fundraising for Angie Matthews and her family. When I think about Angie, the first thing that comes to mind is her "always on" beautiful smile and all of the amazing adventures we have had together that I will cherish forever. If you don't know Angie personally, she is one of those people you just know will be a friend for a lifetime. Angie is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, nurse, and friend to many. Angie and her husband, Jeff, have two young children, Jaxson (5) and Knox (1), who need their parents more than ever at such young ages.

As most of you know, Angie was diagnosed with cancer of the gastroesophageal junction in April. This summer, she underwent treatment with chemotherapy and radiation. She did this with the most positive attitude and determination to fight her battle with cancer head-on. A major surgery procedure followed to remove part of her stomach and lower esophagus in August. During recovery, Angie and her family have been dealt another devastating blow; they were recently informed that the cancer has spread to her liver. As a result, Angie's treatment plan is to begin chemotherapy again for the unforeseeable future.

Angie has been a nurse for a long time, taking care of patients for a living, and now it’s time to take care of her. My goal in starting this fundraiser is to relieve Angie and Jeff of any financial burden so they can focus on Angie's ongoing treatment and their children. The funds raised will go towards their deductible, medical supplies, and medical costs not covered by insurance. Angie's battle with cancer is going to be a long journey, and anything we can do to help is much appreciated.
