Angie's Surgeries
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kim Rossi and I'm fundraising for my younger sister, Angie Rossi. A few months ago she began having horrible knee pain. She has been recently diagnosed with meniscus root tears requiring reconstructive surgeries in both knees as soon as possible.
She has been working in the food service industry for almost 40 years and not being able to work/walk for six months of recovery time has her feeling terrified financially. (Three months for each knee and each surgery needs to be completed separately) This condition has worsened rapidly in just a few short months. Without much warning, she now faces this financial burden and a fear of moving forward with the much needed surgeries. Between raising seven kids as a single mom and a two year battle with cancer a few years ago combined with the devastating effects of the pandemic on the restaurant business, she has not been able to save much money.
She is one of the most giving people I know! She will regularly "pay it forward" picking up the tab for the stranger behind her at a coffee shop or in line at a toll booth. She has the biggest heart! Angie is also a very independent, strong woman who is not very good at asking for help which is why I am here asking for any help you may be willing to share.
Here is the definition of the condition. Her orthopedic surgeon is Dr. Charles Ellis with Peninsula Ortho. Associates in Berlin, MD
A meniscal root tear is considered a very serious condition. In fact, it is the biomechanical equivalent to having the entire meniscus removed. It can completely destabilize the shock absorbing function in the knee and can lead to fractures, early onset of arthritis and even osteonecrosis (bone death).
She and I live on separate coasts. I was just visiting her last week for the first time since her knee problems and witnessing the extreme difficulty she now has walking was beyond heartbreaking. I will be with her again during her recovery. Please know that any donation amount will be greatly helpful and appreciated!
