Animist Singing Project In Georgia

Hi, my name is Ana and I am a Georgian artist, performer, singer, writer, and ancestral lineage healing practitioner, currently living as a nomad in Europe.

Old Georgian sacred places, such as those in our video above, have been forsaken for a great deal of time. They want to be heard, and I've been guided by my ancestors to listen to them and to share what they have to say.

In this GoFundme, I am reaching out to my community and beyond for initial financial support to return to my country and create a body of musical and written work, the Animist Singing Project in Georgia.

Your financial support will go directly to costs of return and to visit ancient Georgian pre-Christian places, in a project to restore the local dwelling wisdom. I'll be listening to the places, their protector spirits, and the ancestors and we will be creating stories and songs together. I believe that listening to knowledge and wisdom that extends beyond what our current societal and cultural environments frame as knowledge is a powerful political act of decolonization and helps to restore healthy relational intactness of us humans with our surroundings and the environment.

We can't embark on this journey alone. The ancestors and I are clear, this project is far too big to be undertaken by a sole individual. So we are reaching out for your help. We need your financial and your solidarity support.

For being involved in the initial fundraising, you will receive access to a special tier on my Patreon just for GoFundMe funders which gives you monthly updates with songs, stories, and road adventures that we co-create and experience with the elementals, the spirits of the lands, and the ancestors on sacred Georgian lands.

Our GoFundMe is for: travel costs, food, shelter, and transportation, costs for the necessary equipment, such as an audio recorder, audio controller, interface, proper headphones, costs for sound editing, and costs such as the German monthly insurance, which is super expensive, but obligatory, if I want to stay registered in Germany (and which I need for financial aid, like the possibility to launch this project on this awesome crowdfunding platform).

The history of my country counts many conquests from big imperial powers throughout the centuries. As a fairly small country with a culture tracing beyond the times of ancient Babylon, it has experienced repeated significant historical interferences that aimed deliberately to diminish local cultural knowledge.

This issue has always been a source of great distress to me, which is why I worked on the Georgian lamenting project, in which we attempted to re-memorize and recover an ancient Georgian lamenting custom that was practiced as a profession for centuries in Georgia, and that is, like so many other practices, in extinction today.

As well as financial support, your solidarity support is welcome! We need you so we know we are not alone in this. I love to sing and follow my heart's calling. The ancestors are awesome in backing me for this. But I need to know that there are also embodied human beings out there who support us. We can't be alone in this.
