Anisha's Team Canada 2023 World Tap Championships

Hello everybody! My name is Anisha Chowdhury and I will be competing at the International Dance Organization (IDO) World Tap Dance Championships, in Riesa, Germany in September 2023. I am the current (2022) Junior 1 World Champion/Gold medalist and am raising money so I can return to defend my title on behalf of Canada.
As for my story so far, I started to tap dance when I was 7 and got my first tap solo by the age of 9. After winning at several local competitions across Ontario I auditioned for Team Canada Dance and went to the IDO World Tap Dance Championships for the first time when I turned 10.
Team Canada 2019 World Tap Championships - Germany
Being the youngest member of the team, I was offered several routines including a Duo, Trio, Small Group, and Formation. It was an eye-opening and wonderful experience. I made a lot of great friends along the way and it challenged me to become a better tap dancer.
I longed to go back the following year, but unfortunately, the pandemic hit and Worlds' were cancelled for the next 2 years. Although those years were tough, I kept working on improving my tap dance virtually, learning via videos and live streams. I knew I couldn't rest on my laurels and I knew my competitors wouldn't be either.
Finally, I was able to go to the IDO World Tap Dance Championships in Croatia in 2022. Unlike my first experience, I was no longer the youngest dancer (although I was the youngest Junior). I was selected for all possible tap routines (Solo, Duo, Trio, Small Group, Formation, and Production) and became the World Junior Tap Dance Champion (Junior 1 Division) for my Solo at the age of 13.
2022 IDO World Tap Dance Championships Solo, Awards and National Anthem - Croatia
It was the happiest day in my life, standing on the podium and hearing the Canadian national anthem being played (the only time it was played during the entire competition). I am the first female gold medalist from Canada since 2013 and the youngest female Canadian since 2009.

As the reigning World Junior Tap Dance Champion (Junior 1 Division), I am given the privilege of returning and defending my title on behalf of Canada. This year the IDO World Tap Dance Championships will be held in Germany in September.
