It has been a very hard couple of days for our family. Yesterday we lost Anita. Barrington , I can’t help but feel cheated that we won’t have more time together .
Everyone who knew Anita knew how strong her opinions were, knew she wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself or the ones she cared about, didn’t back down from an argument (sometimes even when she was wrong ), was an advocate for those who didn’t have the means or confidence to stand up for themselves and always had an open seat at her table…even when she didn’t have much to give. She loved to cook, especially Mexican food (her favorite), and she did it well.
If I had to tell people what I thought was the most important thing about Anita, her most inspiring quality, it would be her unwavering love for her family. And family to her was not just family by blood. She’s left an imprint on people wherever she has lived and I’m sure she will be remembered with a smile (and probably a few really good stories). She had a big personality and a big love of people. She’s taken people into her home and into her life and she’s loved us all. She has been a beautiful, caring, loving, supportive Mother, sister, aunt, Nana and friend.
Please help us raise funds so we can have a memorial for Anita at the bowling alley in March, and also help her kids fly out to Illinois for her burial. Anything will be very appreciated. But most of all please remember to love your family loudly…like Anita did. ❤️
