Anita's Battle Cry Against Cancer!!
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Anita!
A year ago, I moved to Georgia, looking for a new start, especially after the death of both of my parents.
When I arrived, I looked for work for months to no avail. I'd spent the last 27 years in the medical industry, but eventually was hired by the county as school bus monitor. Sadly, it only lasted for about 2 months before I was declared disabled and no longer able to work.
My husband and I, who is also disabled, were faced with a new life on a fixed income which was completely fine. We were up to the challenged. Not being able to qualify for Medicare for another two years, I found the best available insurance that I could afford. I immediately went to have all of my yearly check-ups, including a physical and a mammogram which was overdue. For the first time, my results came back abnormal. They found an unusual starburst pattern and needed to do a biopsy to determine what was going on. The answer is the one that no one wants to hear...I had stage 1 breast cancer.
Overwhelmed! That is what you feel. Completely overwhelmed.
The moment I heard the word cancer I thought, "is this it?" I thought about how it would affect my body and my family. The last one anyone thinks about is cancer. It doesn't cross your mind how much of a blow it is to your reality. It never crosses your mind how much it costs physically and mentally, much less the financial costs of surgery and treatment.
And now I am faced with astronomical medical costs, including deductibles, out-of-pocket post surgery fees, radiation co-pays, and 5-10 years of post-radiation hormone therapy.
So, I come asking for help: $9,000.00 to be exact. It is a lot, but of course, any contributions and donations are incredibly appreciated.
Thank you and God Bless!
