What is Anjiro Initiative?

Anjiro Initiative is a nonprofit organization run by local leaders working with schools in the farming community of Anjiro, Madagascar. This year is its th year supporting families in Anjiro. Since 2014 it has granted scholarships to +120 students annually in primary and secondary school. In 2021, it started providing scholarships to university students who have advanced through primary and secondary schools with Anjiro Initiative.

Social change requires communities to have agency over their own lives. Anjiro Initiative contributes to this outcome by partnering with families to provide education to the youth in rural Madagascar, while local heroes assume leadership roles. Learn more at AnjiroInitiative.org.

2022 Fundraising Campaign

This year's campaign runs from August 1- 15, 2022, to raise $20,000 to provide tuition grants to 120+ students for the 2022-2023 school year.

What Happens To My Donation?

Donated funds are granted directly to schools to cover 100% of tuition fees for primary and secondary school students, university entrance exam fees of graduating secondary school seniors, and tuition fees for university students.

Annual tuition for primary and secondary schools and universities is approximately $50.

Do Malagasy Families Have to Pay Anything?

Yes. Families cover the required expenses for books, uniforms, field trips, sports equipment, meals, lodging, living expenses, and other incidentals. They add up to half of a student's yearly educational expenditures. The hard work and dedication of local families and leaders, together with your support, significantly impact the community of Anjiro.

Is My Donation Tax Deductible?

Yes. Anjiro Initiative is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) public charity, so your contributions are tax-deductible. In addition, donors receive a tax receipt from PayPal Giving Fund, a 501(c)(3) charity that will receive the donations and grant the funds to Anjiro Initiative.
