Ann Bangs & Teri Thompson
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Miriam and I'm helping Ann Bangs and Teri Thompson with emergency expenses.
You may know both Teri Thompson and Ann Bangs. Both are known for their animal search and rescue of pets who have been lost by their owners and save the strays of our community, also on holidays with fireworks patrolling the streets, working with local rescues and animal shelters.
Ann's Story: On Feb. 7th, 2023, Ann found Teri at home unconscious. Teri is a diabetic who had an insulin pump, and sometime between the hours of 4am and 10am her blood sugar skyrocketed due to her pump malfunctioning. Ann gave her 2 doses of glucagon, but it didn’t have any effect on Teri. Paramedics were called and at the hospital, they got her sugar under control, but she was not responding. They did an EEG where the doctor discovered that her brain was spiking with seizure spikes - not good. She was transferred to UCLA Neuro ICU and was put in a drug-induced coma to stabilize her brain and stop her seizing spikes. Once under control, she was transferred to a specialty hospital to wean her off the ventilator and reduce or change some of the seizure meds (she’s on 4). She has a very long, slow journey to get back to her normal self."
Teri has pets that are being cared for by Ann but her German shepherd puppy Sable is more than Ann could handle right now so I stepped up to care for her. Unfortunately, Teri’s oldest cat passed away soon after this happened.
Expenses are mounting for Ann. The hospital Teri is at is on the South end of Culver City, so the gas spent going back and forth is high. Along with the added food and care for Teri’s pets. Ann’s paycheck runs low every payday and is starting to struggle to pay her own bills along with Teri’s.
Ann shares that “Teri is also a USMC Corporal retired. She would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need. She is also a team member of C.E.R.T. (community emergency response team) She is a squad leader and teaches others who take the CERT training. Now she needs your help.”
Please donate to help Ann out. They have big hearts and saved so many pets. They can both use our help.
