Anna's Cancer Battle

My daughter, Anna Hobbs, is 15 years old.  She was diagnosed with stage-2/A classic Hodgkin’s lymphoma after a lump was discovered near her right shoulder.  On Monday, 30 May, she was admitted to Norton's Children's Cancer Research Center in Louisville for treatment and started chemotherapy on Saturday, 4 June.  This fundraiser is being created to help defray the costs involved in her care and treatment, including medicines, therapies, procedures, transportation, and maintenance of her home environment.  Anna can be victorious in her courageous battle against lymphoma.  Setting a reasonable goal amount for this fundraiser has proven tricky given the current economic climate.  Her mother and I have been told chemotherapy treatments will continue for months. After that, we can look forward to perhaps years of follow-up visits.

Anna enjoys being at home.  She excels in the arts at school.  At home, Anna enjoys spending time with her cat, painting, and making music.

 

Anna’s history is quite impressive.  She began life as a preemie, but she was ready to meet any challenge.  Through the years, she grew in strengths and character.  At age 13, she became employed as a babysitter, then as a 14-year-old, she joined the fast-food industry where she thrived. In February of this year, she chose to quit her job in order to focus on her education and other things that are important in her life.  Some of her extracurricular activities include French Club, Marching Band, and Art Club.  Through the years, Anna has been relatively healthy, so it is with this in mind I pray that she will soon make whole again with all the blessings of good health. 

 

 Perhaps you already know Anna, or maybe you are just now meeting Anna for the first time.  Either way, rest assured that she is thrilled to see that you support her efforts to fight this disease.  Anna’s mother and I are very grateful as well, even with the certainty that being charter members of “Team Anna," gives us “full access” to all emotional roller coaster rides that we can handle (as you may imagine).
