Anna Kate Hassler (Chiari Surgery)

 

Many of you know Anna Kate from seeing her run through the halls at church, smiling ear to ear trying
to keep up with her big brothers with a school of smaller children chasing adoringly after her. Or maybe
to you she’s the little diva with a love of Disney Princesses or fancy boots. What most of us don’t get to
see is the chronic pain and sleepless nights that she suffers because of her Chiari Malformation. Jon and
Kimberly have already had to make many difficult decisions for Anna Kate’s health and now have to
make a decision again. She has developed a Syringomyelia, which in layman’s terms is a cyst on her
spinal cord that affects how her cerebrospinal fluid travels through her spinal column. In order to
address this issue, she will be having a very delicate and invasive surgery to the back of her head on
January 9th. The Chiari Malformation causes her cerebellum to extend into her spinal canal and now
needs to be addressed in order to alleviate some of these symptoms. In efforts to be a blessing to the
Hasslers, we are reaching out to see if anyone can donate to help defray the huge medical bills that will
