Help Anna Mae get started after getting out of prison

Donation protected
Anna Mae has been incarcerated for 9 years and is getting out this summer. With few resources available, she needs funds to be able to rebuild a new life at the age of 59.

Anna Mae was first incarcerated for selling her prescription pain meds, and then reconvicted after her first release due to lack of post-release resources and support. Before being incarcerated she was a farmer who practiced sustainable land tending and participated in indigenous rights movements in Washington. While in prison she's been learning how to play keyboard, something she hopes to continue outside of prison walls.

Anna Mae is a trans woman who has been through hell jumping through hoops to get care. She was holed in men's prison for years and only moved to a woman's prison this year. While in the men's prison she was kept in solidarity confinement for months because it was the only way she could get a private room.

Anna Mae has shown a lot of resilience over the years despite all the abuse she's faced at the hands of the prison industrial complex. She is hopeful to get a fresh start and avoid reentry. She needs funds to get started and to finish surgeries that have been delayed for years by the DOC. Please contribute if you can and share!

This fundraiser was put together by a penpal who has been in touch through mail with Anna Mai for several years.
