Obituary of Anna Marie Kane October 8, 2023
Anna Marie Kane, 84 of Rockford Illinois passed away peacefully October 8, 2023 surrounded by loving family. Marie
was born September 9, 1939 in Warren Pa. to John and Frances Zolko.
Marie married Dennis Kane November 10, 1962 and celebrated life and love together for 32 years. She has been a
Rockford resident for 49 years.
Marie was a woman of remarkable achievements. She was Valedictorian of her High School Class of 1957. Graduate of
Marietta College, Georgia & she worked for General Motors Company in Cleveland, Ohio. Self –taught in the art of
photography and a professional photographer. Marie and Denny started and operated Kane Photography for 25 years.
Since 1992 they were the first husband/wife Master of Photography team in the state of Illinois. Since 1994 Marie has
owned and managed the company with her son Matthew while advancing professionally. She was a member of
Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Associate Professional Photographers of Illinois & American Society of
Photographers. She received Masters of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees from PPA & Fellowship
Degree in Professional Photographic Association of Northern Illinois. Marie was chosen for the distinguished “National
Award” by PPA and was a Life Member of PPA. She is well known throughout the region, state & national levels. Marie
dedicated 54 years to the photographic industry and inspired everyone around her. She was an educator and mentor to
photographers across the country.
Her interests included reading, floral design & gardening, bird watching & candle lit atmospheres. She was a bit of a
night owl & enjoyed her late night chats with family and friends.
Marie had true passion, support & love for her family & friends. The void left by her will be felt by all whose lives she
touched. Through her words & actions, she made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her children Matthew and Kevin Kane; Bryan(Jane) Kane and grandson Alexander; two sisters Kathleen
Spear(Jim); Janet Z. Temple ; 1 brother John Zolko (Mary Lou); a sister-in-law Becky Zolko in addition to cousins,
nephews & nieces.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband Dennis B. Kane & Brother Andrew Zolko.
Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00 & Services 1-2 on Thursday October 12, 2023 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home 1860 S
Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois with procession immediately following to Arlington Cemetery.
