Anna Moore is an honest and hardworking 74-year-old individual who has spent her life serving others in one capacity or another. She had to take her retirement from her current job serving the staff as a receptionist for a Community College Union.
Anna suffered a stroke and has been partially paralyzed. A few months later she fell and fractured her back. After retirement, she has had limited income and limited health insurance to pay for her medical cost and medical assistance needs. We are trying to raise funds for a hospital bed.
We are a group of her co-workers who are getting together to raise funds for this great lady we love. She is in need of a hospital bed because of her regular bed is inadequate. The bed which will accommodate her condition is estimated to cost $4,000. It is called Joerns UltraCare XT Bed System.
Your kindness will not only be most appreciated, but it will also bring a good night's sleep to Anna who has been sleeping in her recliner chair since the fracture as it is more comfortable than her current bed.
Anna's Background:
Here is a bit about Anna. She was born in Colfax, Louisiana in 1945 on a plantation. She picked cotton and went to Mary E. Graham H.S., after completing her high school, she moved to San Francisco at the age of 17 and $15 in her pocket. Since then, she has served companies like AAA, IBM, Thrifty and United Airlines. During her career, she moved and traveled extensively. While working for IBM, she was promoted to Texas and back to California where she continued working for 25 years. After retiring she then joined United Airlines where she served for another 15 years. Her last job was with American Federation of Teacher (AFT) College Staff Guild, Local 1521A where she served 6 more years before she had to retire due to medical reasons. Ann has served for 60 years!
Anna hobbies include singing, walking and traveling. She has almost been around the world with visits to Asia, Europe, Africa and of course all over the United States. She is a Christian woman who loves the lord and going to church where she sang lead in the church choir. Due to her illness, she has been unable to participate. Gospel is her favorite genre of music which she has been singing since childhood.
Anna was married and gave birth to a son. She describes birth as one of the proudest moments in her life. When her husband passed away in 2008, she decided not to get married again.
