Anna The Blind Archer to Africa

Donation protected
My name is Anna. I was born 8 weeks premature and legally blind at birth. At the age of 9, I went to Foothills Camp for the Visually impaired, and that is where I fell in love with archery. Where they took the bold move to give legally blind people bows and projectiles and said "Shoot". I did, and I loved it (though I had no idea where that arrow really went). Years later in High School I learned that there was an Archery Club. After very little consideration, I took the chance that the coach would be as bold as my instructors were at Blind Camp. Thankfully, he was, and in no time gave me a bow, and a few arrows, and told me to shoot! With that encouragement and support from my family and coaches, we experimented to find ways that worked for me to shoot consistently. That effort has paid off and now I have earned the opportunity to compete in NASP competitions in South Africa with the Canadian team. The expenses are so much more than what my mother can afford. For that, I look to the larger community to help me show the world what people with disabilities can do when given the chance, and the encouragement to overcome the challenges life gives.
