Castaways Kennel Project.
Castaways is a nonprofit, veteran-owned dog rescue who’s mission is to rescue dogs from abuse, negelect, and those at high risk of euthanasia. Our goal is to give every dog we encounter a second chance at life, love, and safety. We routinely take on serious medical cases including heartworm positive dogs, dogs who have been hit by cars and left for dead, and dogs requiring surgery or lengthy medical treatments to get them back on their feet prior to adoption. Castaways is currently a foster-based rescue, meaning we rely on individuals to volunteer their homes and their time to take in a Castaways dog.
Castaways is located near a county that has no animal control, no county resources allocated towards the animal population, and no veterinary clinics. Unfortunately, our organization routinely turns away up to 20 dogs a month as our reliance on fosters is unsustainable. The need is heartbreaking. We do our best to save money where we can, but most of our donations go directly back into veterinary costs and supplies to keep our dogs healthy and ready for adoption. We rarely break even on any given dog as their medical expenses far exceed what we request through adoption fees.
We have been saving tirelessly for “The Kennel Project” through fundraising, but it is simply not enough. This project includes a facility with 10+ kennels on 2 acres of land that will enable us to double the amount of dogs we can save. The project is an aggressive $65,000 build, but it is absolutely necessary. We have approximately $40,000 committed to this build from several donors and from what we are able to save on our own. Once we raise an additional $10,000, the donors will release their committed funds and we can finally break ground! Please help us achieve this goal by donating to a long-term solution for dogs desperately in need.
