In Memory Anna Volpe for Father Vito Marziliano
Donation protected
When my mother Anna Volpe suddenly passed away on Sunday May 30th, we had the daunting task of making funeral arrangements. My mother was a kind and generous soul that loved helping others anytime she could, especially children. Those that know her, also know she loved flowers and although beautiful, flowers die and she would have wanted more. As a child in Italy she was taught by nuns in a Convent and even after immigrating she continued to maintain a connection with a particular nun Suor Lia who had ties to Bethlehem.
When asked about a pastor for her service, the only person that came to mind was Father Vito Marzilliano. He was our pastor at Epiphany of our Lord Parish in Scarborough and left a lasting impression on our family. Anyone who meets him understands this. Over the years, he moved to various churches where he ended up at St. Patrick’s Church in Brampton. He has been involved in many charities and initiatives over the years but non closer to his heart than helping children in Bethlehem.
The connection was there, in lieu of flowers and in honour of her love to help others and her greatest love for her grandchildren Vincent, Cristian and Laila, it felt right to support this charity. .

In the spring of 2022, Father Vito Marziliano will personally start his journey to Bethlehem in his quest to help support an orphanage called Creche Bethlehem. (Along side of the Daughters of Charity) He will personally delivery all money raised. We will support Father Vito in giving back to the community as he sees fit with his community work.

It is the right for every child to live within a family, to have a home, caring parents and love. Although we are in the 21 century, we still live the same story of the Manger that existed long ago - the story of the first child left alone on the road to face a mysterious destiny.
Going back in memory to 100 years ago and even before, in 1884, when the Daughters of Charity/Saint Vincent came to Bethlehem on a mission of caring for the sick and a hospital was founded in the Bethlehem Area for this reason. The Hospital implemented General Medical services and received sick people from all over the West Bank. In 1985 the hospital had a deficit in the budget and was closed. In the year 1989 the hospital specialized its services to become a maternity hospital in cooperation with the Daughters of Charity and the Order of Saint John of Malta.
Creche Bethlehem
In 1884, following a call of the Bishop of Bethlehem, the first Daughters of Charity of Saint-Vincent de Paul arrived to serve the neediest people in the area.
They started providing medical care at their homes, under tents, and at dispensaries. In 1895, they inaugurated the Hospital of the Saint Family and little later opened the Creche, in order to accommodate children who were abandoned or deposited on their doorsteps
The mission of the Daughters of Charity was expanded due to a greater humanitarian need when the Daughters started to find babies left on their doorstep.
In the year 1905, an Orphanage for abandoned children was founded and is called THE CRECHE.
Our objective is to fight for the right to life of children, to guarantee a safe shelter and safe delivery for the babies and mothers. The age of the target group is from 0- 6 years.
The children are welcomed into our Home regardless of their religion, race or background. They are a gift from the Lord. Who can reject such a gift?
We believe that a child needs more than a shelter but a home and a loving environment to grow fruitfully. We developed a kindergarten for the children to accompany them in their developmental stages. In this service we guarantee a comprehensive nurturing environment for the child.
We believe that we cannot live apart from the society and we do not want our children to be stigmatized, so we opened our doors for other children from the local society to join the kindergarten. We gave priority to the children whose families can’t afford a kindergarten. We also accept children from families of average income. Thus we are integrated in the society and give poor children the opportunity to have the experience needed for growing up.
The children from outside the Crèche receive lunch with our children every day from Monday until Saturday.
We have four teachers working with the children in the kindergarten, beside the supervisor and the trainer. We implement our program under the supervision of Bethlehem University Education Faculty.
A pediatrician, a child psychologist, and a social worker add their professional expertise, guiding the development of each child.

MISSION
The mission of Crèche is to properly intervene (rescue and rehabilitate) less privilege babies, young toddlers, and children’s up to 6 years who are vulnerable to abuse, neglect, and abandoned in our society.
Provide a safe and loving temporary home for abandoned, abused, and orphaned.
Meet the needs of these babies: medically, psycho - socially, legally, and educationally.
Participate in and contribute to the education, nurturing and raising of abandoned and orphaned babies into valuable, confident, and productive members of society.

Father Vito Marziliano will be the recipient of all money raised during this fundraiser. He will travel to Bethlehem next year Spring 2022 and deliver the money personally. His mission is to use the money to help rebuild the orphanage at the Creche Bethlehem. During his trip we entrust Father Vito to use all money raised at his discretion.
