Anna Young’s Double Lung Transplant Care
Many of you are familiar with the long journey Anna Young has been on to qualify for and receive a double lung transplant, in addition to her daily struggle to breathe. A direct result of her patience, persistence, and indomitable spirit, Anna was recently listed as a lung transplant recipient at the University of Washington Medical Center in Washington State. A few months after, on May 25th, Anna received her transplant. She now has two breathing, working lungs and is in stable condition, albeit experiencing much pain.
While the surgery was successful and we can all celebrate this incredible milestone, the herculean task of recovery and rehabilitation lays ahead. This is where we all come in. Let’s come together to allow Anna to focus on what is most important right now: focusing on the task mentally, recovery from surgery, and rehabilitation necessary to make the transplant ultimately successful.
As we all can appreciate, medical insurance only covers what it covers. Beyond the surgery and long hospital stay, there are many upfront and hidden costs of aftercare, especially given that Anna will be unable to work for quite some time.
If you are able to give at this time, please accept her silent gratitude. While she is not currently able to engage in phone calls or messages, she remains enormously grateful for all of the ways each of you have supported her to get to this point, and offers her true thanks in advance for any contribution you are able to offer at this time.
Let’s show up for Anna in a big way when she needs us most.
