Hi, My name is Lizie and I’m fundraising to pay for my mother’s funeral. Here’s my story……

On July 28th my mother passed away unexpectedly. She was in hospital having been diagnosed with pneumonia but was expected to make a full recovery.

Unfortunately, mum didn’t leave much in the way of money to pay for her funeral and since my stroke I’ve only had limited benefits to live on.

I’ve applied for funeral benefit but won’t receive the full amount as, apparently, mum left too much money - this money was paid into her bank account by the DWP after she died. Subsequently, they’re going to want it back. I did tell the claims department this but they’ve chosen to ignore me. Also, in order to apply for the funeral benefit I had to sign a contract with the funeral director tying me to £4000 of debt should my claim have failed.

The final bill is now going to be over £2000. I’ve already sold what I can but it doesn’t come close.

Please, please, please help me give my mum the funeral she deserves.
