Help Annette get a vending license to sell flowers

“I love flowers because flowers don’t harm you—they’re innocent.”
Since 1982, Annette Walton has had a street vending license to sell fresh flowers in Downtown New Haven. Professors, students, and locals alike began to know her as “The Flower Lady.” Annette may be a familiar face as she was born and raised in New Haven. Since the 1980s, she has been coming out every day to ask if anyone can help her today.
With the start of the pandemic, she lost her vending license and hasn’t been able to restart her business since 2019. For Annette, street vending is not only something that brings her joy -- she also depends on it as her main source of income. Without her license, Annette could be arrested or fined for trying to earn enough money to live. In 2000, Annette was arrested for “disorderly conduct” while selling flowers without a license.
Annette loves to see the joy of people buying flowers for their loved ones. With your help, she can continue her business and get back on her feet. This fundraiser will go directly toward the fees for business filing, the vending application, and any costs associated with buying flowers, buckets, and other necessary supplies. Any additional funds raised will go directly to Annette.
It's also been an especially difficult time for Annette due to her husband's passing recently. Annette says that this vending license will mean so much to her. Let's do our best to support her in these trying times!
