Hello! We are Annie and Kerry Xu, two professional USA badminton players specializing in Women’s Doubles. We are currently ranked #46 in the world, and as the 2024 Paris Olympic qualification period is coming up, we will be competing in more Olympic-qualifying tournaments, hoping to secure a spot in Paris. Like many aspiring USA badminton players, we have found it challenging to continuously travel and compete around the world when the sport does not receive much financial support in the United States. Therefore, we would greatly appreciate any support to help us achieve our athletic dreams!

Our story:

We are identical twin sisters that have been playing badminton together for 15 years and counting. We had briefly stopped competing when we attended UC Berkeley as we were busy with studies. After graduating in 2020 and starting our first jobs, COVID-19 hit. The pandemic was challenging for us as it was for everyone; however, it was during this period of time that we realized we were not ready to leave badminton behind. We wanted to challenge ourselves to see how far we can pursue badminton professionally and hopefully pave a path for young aspiring badminton athletes. Thus, in June of 2022, we decided to take a leave of absence from our corporate jobs and officially began our lives as full-time professional athletes, with the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in mind. So far, over the past 6 months, our world ranking went from #505 to a career-high of #44.

Silver—Peru Challenge
Silver—El Salvador International
Bronze—Mexican International
Bronze—Dutch Open
Bronze—Czech Open
Gold—2022 US Adult National Women’s Doubles—we will be representing Team USA at the Pan Am Cups in February 2023.

Junior Highlights:

Bronze—Earned America’s first podium finish at the World University Games in the 2017 Taipei Universiade.
4x U.S. Junior National Champions
3x Pan American Junior Champions
2x Gold—Pan Am Junior Team Event
Competed as part of Team USA at two of the world’s most renowned team events – Uber Cup and Sudirman Cup in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

In the upcoming year, we hope to continue to represent the United States and make our club, family, and all of our supporters proud. We have created this page so that we can focus completely on training and doing the best we can in competitions without as much financial burden on ourselves and our parents. Truly, we want to thank everyone who is taking the time to learn about our journey and support us, either through donating to our GoFundMe, sharing our story, and/or keeping up with our progress.
