Annie's Army - Annie's Battle - Colon Cancer

Hi- our names are Kelly, Crystal and Gwen. We have created this Go Fund Me on behalf of our dearest and beloved friend Anne McDonald Rhodes. Most know of our dear Annie but those who don’t we would like to share a snippet of her story, struggle and continued fight and ask that anyone who would consider donating, we as her closest friends are so appreciative and grateful.

Anne was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2018-a journey that no one wishes to partake. This disease has absorbed her life and after several surgeries, the first expecting to remove a 4” centimeter sized tumor resulted in finding a 12 pound malignant tumor hidden under her intestines and bladder, which resulted in the loss of her bladder as well as a stoma reversal that has had a series of complications. Being diagnosed with cancer is devastating and as Anne continues her battle with continued chemotherapy, radiation and various medications this devious disease has spread to certain spots on her liver and lymph nodes that has progressed Anne to a stage 4 and that has brought along additional health ailments and complications.

Anne has remained resilient but this enemy is taking its toll on our warrior physically, emotionally and now financially. Supplies for her urostomy, various DME equipment, travel to and from daily chemo/radiation treatments, various specialty appointments and surgeries can exhaust funds. Insurance does not cover everything that one would think and there are numerous co-pays and deductibles that have to be met and going into year six of her fight- funds are simple tight or non-existent.

As her closest friends it is a heartache that you can’t imagine seeing the most giving thoughtful person you are blessed to know endure this daily pain and struggle- one thing we can do to help ease some of her worry is to ease some of this ongoing financial burden.
