Annie's Write Up

My name is Victoria Kotich and I am the twin sister of Annie Kotich who was a middle school English and Reading Strategies Educator in the Wichita and Kansas City Metro Area. During her time working in metro areas Annie believed that graphic novels were a way to capture a student's love for reading. As Annie would say, "When students are given a voice and a choice, they tend to flourish." Annie was working on a young adult novel prior to her passing. Our family has created a grant in Annie's memory called "Annie's Write Up."

Teacher's in the Kansas City Metro Area will be invited to write a short summary as to what they would do to promote students creative writing. Books would be printed and bound and must be showed either in a library or across the district. Criteria for the grant will be based on promotion of student's writing and how writings will be shared. All funds donated will go to this grant to encourage and promote students to do creative writing. We want to continue with Annie's legacy to inspire the young writers of tomorrow and help them achieve their dreams. As one of Annie's favorite authors Edgar Allan Poe once quoted "All that we see or seem Is but a dream within a dream!"
