Annika’s medical expenses and Recovery
Donation protected
As most of y’all know, and some of y’all may not know that Annika my niece had surgery on the 22nd of October. She had two different surgeries that day. One to help with her left leg because it hyper extended. They did a release so that it would help. The second surgery was on her patella. The knee cap would dislocate causing her a great deal of pain. They inserted a rod and some screws. Praying that resolves the issues. This was an outpatient surgery, but she had some drainage after surgery so she was admitted with a drain tube. After three days she was able to go home on the 25th of October. She was recovering fine then tragically on the 29th of October she had a Status Epilepticus seizure. EMT couldn’t get her to stop seizing very long before she would start seizing again. The ambulance transported her to the closest hospital Progress West. There the Drs tried getting her seizures under control. It took about 2 1/2 hours to do so. They sedated her there and transported her to Children’s Hospital. Annika was on a ventilator with a tube down her throat into her stomach. None of her vitals were looking good. As her family and friends continued to pray, she underwent several tests including a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) to see if any infection was present. No infection was found. Annika, was in the PICU until 5:00pm on the 31st of October. From there she was taken to a regular room on the 12th floor which was Neurology. Mom and Dad were able to take her home on November 1st around 5:00 pm. She is doing better, but still complains of back pain, leg pain, and has been having some bad headaches. Back to Annika having her leg surgeries she has to keep her leg straight, and she can’t bare any weight on her leg @ all for 6 weeks while the cast and brace are on. She is in a wheelchair. She can’t attend school right now either. Mom and dad (Brandy & Sidney) are out of work for @ least 6 weeks. They have to do her daily activities with her. Dad has to lift her up while she scoots the other leg to get to the bathroom, couch, bed,
etc. Mom takes care of the hygiene and assists dad with moving her from place to place. They could use some continued prayers. Also, I know that they are struggling to make ends meet right now with climate of the car industry and shortages. Also, Annika is no longer on a secondary insurance like she had in TN. Please if you can help out in anyway it would be greatly appreciated. God Bless you all Amen!
