Annual Support for Wayland X Coleman

Donation protected
Thank you all for your support and donations last year to help get Wayland through with safe and healthy food ordered through canteen. Because of your generosity, X did not have to rely on mice feces infested food trays served to the incarcerated population via the chow hall. With your donations, X was also able to help feed other incarcerated people who lacked access to clean food. The funds that were raised last year made a huge impact on helping to get X through the year eating safe food. Because of the potential health and safety concerns of mice infestation and feces-infested food trays, milk cartons etc. where Wayland is located, he along with other incarcerated people, do not eat the prison-made food. Even under these conditions, Wayland never thinks twice about sharing what he has with others who need support. The incarcerated population has the right to adequate and nutritious food.

We are looking to raise funds to carry X and others through the year, by fulfilling a basic human need: the need to eat.

Thank you all again for your continued support. See below for more details on this issue.

The prison kitchen is still infested with MICE, while food trays and other food items are covered in mice droppings and urine before they are rinsed off and served to the incarcerated population. In the morning, when breakfast is delivered, cartons of milk continues to be served with mice droppings stuck to them.

Wayland is vitamin D deficient. He continues to wash every carton of milk given to him with soap and pours it into a cup because he will not drink out of the carton given the conditions. Because Wayland is not financially stable, he eats once a day, often the same thing each day. He budgets what he has as best he can to make food and water last as long as possible.

Incarcerated workers don't earn enough money to afford a daily meal from the canteen even when they work 8 hour shifts and 40 hour weeks. Therefore, even if X or any other incarcerated individuals were to rely on the $1 a day pay, it is not nearly sustainable.
