ANON: Short Film Fund

Donation protected
ANON is a new short film written and directed by Dylan Brady.

On a cold December evening in Derby, closeted taxi driver Anon is working a busy Friday night shift, going largely unnoticed by his drunk passengers. But after an encounter with a young man which pushes Anon over the brink of his desires, a shocking revelation leads to a frightening exchange with life-altering consequences.

This is a film about the consequences of desire. In a rally against the recent surge of sanitised, 'acceptable' queer stories, ANON interrogates the difference between queer people and men who have sex with men; those who have access to the currency of queer identity and those who don’t. It looks at the power dynamics in anonymous hookups and challenges the heteronormative notion that age equals power.

We have the majority of our budget in place, but are looking to raise additional funds to ensure we can make the film the best it can be. ANON is a totally indie film, being made without public funding, and so every pound we can raise will go towards telling this story on our own terms, exactly as we want to tell it.

ANON is the debut film of writer and actor Dylan Brady. Hailing from Derby, Dylan aims to make work which is authentic, authored and interrogative. As an actor he has worked across TV and Film, with credits including MARY & GEORGE (Sky/Stars), SEBASTIAN (directed by BIFA-nominee Mikko Makela) and RALPH & KATIE (BBC), for which he received a nomination for Best Breakthrough Talent at the RTS North West Awards. He has several authored TV shows in development and most recently penned episode 6 of EVERYTHING NOW (Netflix) starring Stephen Fry and Sophie Wilde. In 2023 Dylan was selected for the BFI Flare x BAFTA Cohort, and he is currently undergoing mentoring with acclaimed filmmaker Andrew Haigh.

Executive Producer: JACK CASEY is a Script Editor and Story Producer based in London. His short credits include BAFTA-nominated WREN BOYS, BAFTA Cymru-nominated FATHER OF THE BRIDE, and the Iris Prize-nominated MARCO, which he also produced. He script edited gothic thriller THE WOMAN IN THE WALL for BBC One, Showtime and Motive Pictures. He was assistant script editor on series 27 of SILENT WITNESS for BBC Studios, and is in development on numerous television projects with companies including Joi Productions, Keeper Pictures and Buccaneer Media. He is also script editing on a slate of feature films in development with companies including Netflix, BFI, BBC Film, Screen Ireland, Screen Scotland and Ffilm Cymru Wales, working with a number of BAFTA-winning and -nominated writers. Jack has worked in talent development for BAFTA and BFI NETWORK, and for film festivals including BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival and Sundance London.

He is currently shooting GHOSTED for Amazon Prime. In 2022 Michael won the British Society of Cinematography Short Film Competition for BABA. His work has screened at a wide variety of festivals including BFI: London Film Festival, BFI Flare: London LGBT Film Festival, London Short Film Festival (LSFF), Encounters Festival Bristol, Fringe!
