Hello everyone, my name is Aya Alnabhan, and I am currently a sophomore at Kentucky Country Day School. Being a first-generation American with Syrian roots, I am shattered to hear about the earthquake that killed more than 33,000 people in Syria and Turkey. Thirty-three thousand people. With Syria’s government already being corrupt, this is seriously a crisis within a crisis. It has devastated me to hear about all the deaths, some of them being my relatives, and I knew I needed to do my part in helping. This 7.8 magnitude earthquake near the Syria-Turkey border has caused one of the biggest disasters to impact the region since 1940. The charity I will be giving the donations to is the Syrian American Medical Society - SAMS. I have chosen this nonprofit because their mission means a lot to me. By contributing to SAMS, we will be helping with their immediate need for trauma supplies and comprehensive emergency response to save lives and treat the injured. I ask you all, kindly, to donate to this cause. Keep Syria in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you all!
