Another Meal for the Children of Cabaret, Haiti

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Gabe Staples and I am raising money for the children of the Cabaret School in Haiti where approximately 200 kids attend. I am raising money for these kids because this is something that has been close to my heart recently and for a school project, we have to take action on an issue that we care about and have access to. So I thought that this would be the perfect thing to do. Pastor Rosinel is the leader and teacher of this school and he is the one that has given these kids everything from uniforms, tuition, meals, you name it. Cabaret, Haiti was largely established following a massive earthquake in 2010. Lots of families moved from Port a Prince to the outskirts after the trauma of the earthquake. As they were establishing their area Pastor Rosinel recognized there was a need for a church and a school. He started a church first and after he was trusted and respected in the area, he saw a need for the children to have schooling. He opened the school and many families couldn't pay the full amount to send their kids to the school. He sewed all of the uniforms and expected various tuition rates. My Uncle and Aunt have known Pastor Rosinel for about five years now and he's visited New Hampshire a couple of times and they've been down to visit him in Haiti as well. As my Aunt and Uncle heard about the tuition struggles, Rosinel said that occasionally he likes to be able to give the kids a meal at the school as well. That's when my Aunt and Uncle started raising money each year at an annual Christmas Party to raise money for these kids and the school to be able to have 2 to 3 meals at school a week. For a lot of these kids, these meals are the biggest meals of their week. Typically there is no breakfast and they have maybe one meal a day if their parents have income. This feeding is a valuable part of their education. Rosinel even told my Aunt and Uncle that he would see kids walking to school eating rocks just to fill their stomachs. My goal is raise $1,500 by January 21, when the project is due, and this way the kids would be able to have four meals a week at school and at least have one meal in their stomachs more than half the week to tide them over. Thank you for your generosity and I hope you consider giving to this amazing cause!
