The Antarctic Aruban - Lyme Disease

Genevieve Brown – The Antarctic Aruban – will attempt to become the first Aruban woman to ski from the 1° degree line in Antarctica to the Geographical South Pole.

Over the 10 – 14 day expedition, Genevieve will ski approximately 120km whilst pulling a 45k sledge containing her tent and provisions. Conditions will be extreme, with temperatures of -50° Celsius and severe winds.

This aim of the expedition is to raise £25,000 for Lyme Aid UK http://www.lymeaiduk.com who provide grants for people with lower incomes to get privately tested for Lyme Disease.

Genevieve was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in July 2016 after being misdiagnosed with viral fatigue for 3 years. A year on from diagnoses, she has recovered from the disease and is passionate about making proper diagnoses affordable, available and prompt in the UK so that others can avoid the harrowing battle she experienced.
