Anthony Chuckie Glasco Heart Transplant Fund

Donation protected

My name is Ann Glasco and on February 22, 2021 my husband, Anthony “Chuckie” Glasco's life changed forever!

He was rushed to Augusta University hospital in Augusta, Georgia with a blood pressure of 45/65 and a heart rate of 160.  The doctors made the decision to shock Chuckie’s heart to lower his heart rate, but while preparing for this procedure a blood clot was discovered.  This was no longer an option because if the blood clot moved, his condition would go from bad to worse.  After further consultation with the doctors, we learned that Chuckie’s heart was functioning so low that the only way for him to survive was to have a heart transplant.

On March 22nd, Chuckie was transferred to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta and the process of getting him on a heart transplant list began.  One of the hardest parts for me was not being by his side at the hospital because of the hospital's COVID-19 restrictions.  With prayers from family, friends, and anyone who knew Chuckie, he was finally placed on the heart transplant list March 29th.  Our faith and those prayers were further answered in an abundant way when on Easter Sunday, "Resurrection Sunday" April 4, 2021 my husband received the gift of a "New" heart!

So, with such a glorious blessing you may ask "Why organize a Go Fund Me?"  If you have ever had any major surgery or know someone who has, they will tell you that the financial burdens associated with surgery can be extremely overwhelming.  We do have health insurance, but even with insurance the "Out of Pocket" expenses associated with the surgery and post surgical care are insurmountable.  The medicine that is needed to ensure Chuckie's survival alone costs well over $1,000 per month (an amount that insurance does not pay).  On a weekly basis, he has to receive a heart biopsy that requires a mandatory $250 co-payment before being seen.  In addition to the medicine and the biopsies, Chuckie has to remain in a "transplant house" which costs $600 per week.  He is projected to remain in the transplant house for several months until the doctors are satisfied that he can return home to his new normal.  We live two hours away from the transplant house so travel expenses such as gasoline and parking are additional expenses.

God has been a merciful and a wonderful presence in our lives.   We thank him for Chuckie's life.   We could have never imagined being in this situation, but we know that there are many people who have expressed a desire to help.  We pray that our story inspires you to not only help us, but to help those in need.  With humility and grace WE THANK YOU for any and all support that you can give.

May God continue to bless you.
