My name is David and I am fundraising for the funeral and memorial expenses in loving memory of Anthony Fernetti.
On October 31,2023 Anthony passed on to paradise and will be missed by his family, friends, and anyone he had the pleasure of sharing some laughs. Anthony never met a stranger and knew how to relate to people of all types.
Anthony loved cooking. He bragged about his grandparents training him in the old school family way of doing meals. But in Texas he slowly made the transition from Italian food to BBQ. He really learned how to prepare brisket and I for one didn’t mind trying out anything he cooked on the grill.
Anthony loved being hospitable and being a waiter. He won an award at his restaurant for being the highest grossing server and he had hopes about one day opening up his own food truck serving home made soups.
Anthony would try anything. One night not too long ago he joined a pick up basketball game in the park where he was walking his dog. He ran up and down the court with kids half his age who wore him out but he was happy being in the moment. I admired his gusto and willingness to experience new things with a smile on his face.
Anthony loved fishing. From a pier, a jetty, a boat or just from the shore, his angler skills were impressive.
I recall one night fishing with him on the 61st pier when he was showing me his method of catching gulf coast redfish using treble hooks.
Anthony loved the Dallas Cowboys. I wasn’t sure he was really a fan since he was from Jersey so I would challenge him from time to time with Cowboy trivia questions. His mind was like a football steel trap! He knew every answer!
Anthony was adaptable and could carry on a conversation with anyone about anything. He would sit on my couch during the day and notice I was watching business news, so he would start chatting about the stock market as well as commodities and precious metals prices.
Anthony was a gentle giant. Large in stature but wouldn’t hurt a flea. I was impressed at his ability to walk away from heated confrontation. It seemed as Anthony could always understand both sides of the stories and wanted everyone to be at peace.
Regardless of what inner turmoil he was dealing with, he kept it private, maybe because he didn’t want to impose anything negative upon anyone and wanted everyone around him to share some joyful laughs. And that laugh of his will be what I miss the most.
I miss you Anthony and look forward to seeing all the new people you’re meeting in paradise,.
Until then, I hope to be able to follow your example of spreading joy and kindness.
I’m sad you’re gone but I Thank you for the memories that will last forever.
