Supporting the Family of Anthony Gamez

With a heavy heart, I am here to inform you all that my cousin did not improve from his injuries. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony Gamez. For those who are unaware of his situation, on May 20th, 2023, my Tia received a phone call from prison stating that they were transporting her son to South Banner. They gave no details as to what happened to him, only that it was urgent, and she needed to go. Upon arrival she asked the guard what happened to her son, but he gave no explanation. It wasn’t until the doctor asked the guard and they claim they found him hanging. Receiving that information shattered my Tia’s spirit. To make a horrible situation worse, multiple doctors informed her that it was highly unlikely that he was hanging, and that she needed to get answers from the prison. My cousin laid lifeless, handcuffed to a bed, with machines all around him, and in him, to keep him alive. Nurses and doctors ran test after test to inform us that he will never wake up. Now, our family has to not only plan a funeral, but we also need to find our answers. As for Anthony, we promise to try our hardest to keep your name alive, and not let your situation get swept under the rug. We will remember the god-fearing man you were, and how much you loved your family. We want to thank all of you who prayed, shared, and messaged us. Your kind words and support really does make a difference in this horrible situation we are facing.
